Revolving Fund - Micro-credits for sustainable development

The poverty in Africa arising from a lack of power cannot be eradicated with charity. It is necessary that the forces for change mature and grow on the continent itself.

But a sustainable solar-business requires financial assistance, to help the end users bearing the high purchase costs of the solar systems. The notion of "Revolving Fund" applies precisely here.
The way the "Revolving Fund" works
The financial ressources of the "Revolving Fund" will enable an Ethiopian family to purchase a solar system in installments. The purchase costs will be amortised over a period of up to three years. The installments flow back into the Revolving Fund and are thus available for the financing of new solar systems. With the creation of the "Revolving Fund" the once deployed ressources can therefore be used over decades.

Based on our years of experience in Ethiopia, we know that the payment behavior for the solar light is very correct - because who does not pay, will stay in the dark.

The installation work on site are carried out by Ethiopian solar technicians. They are professionally trained by the Stiftung Solarenergie at the "International Solar Energy School" and after training they become the opportunity to satrt a small solar-business. This is how a network of solar-centers will be created all over Ethiopia.
